Commercial DVD Production

Production of large volumes of CD's/DVD's is required to meet continual and increasing heavy consumer demand. Commercial DVD / CD production involves highly technological equipment and processes to replicate material in large quantities. Typical DVD duplication runs are usually 500 or less; DVD replication runs can range from 1,000 to hundreds of thousands, and even millions of DVD’s.

There are different types of Commercial DVD Production formats to choose from, a popular choice being DVD5 and DVD9.

Dual Layers recording allows DVD 5 and DVD 9 discs to store considerably more data. For example 4.7 Gigabytes for a single-layer DVD 5 and up to 8.5 Gigabytes for a dual layer DVD9 disc.

A Dual Layer disc differs from a standard DVD in that a second physical layer is administered within the disc itself. The drive accesses the second layer by radiating the laser through the first translucent layer. The layer change device in some DVD players can show a visible temporary halt, as much as two seconds from some accounts.

DVD recordable discs supporting this equipment are 'backward compatible', with a number of existing DVD players and DVD-ROM drives. Countless existing DVD recorders support dual-layer technology and price is similar to that of single-layer drives, despite the fact that the blank dual layer media remains considerably more costly.

DVD Video is the standard format for storing video content, whereas DVD Audio is the format for storing audio content on the DVD.
